About the piece

Created during the Skardu Art Residency, this painting was inspired by a quiet landscape encountered on the way to the Buddha Rock site. A descending mountain path leads the eye through a serene setting where the warm glow of the evening sun bathes the distant hills in golden light. Along the path, a few local figures play with a goat amidst wild native flowers, adding a gentle sense of life and connection to the landscape. Rather than portraying a specific moment, this work reflects the quiet rhythm of mountain life, where people, nature, and light exist in effortless harmony. The golden hour transforms an ordinary scene into one of warmth, contemplation, and timeless beauty, inviting the viewer to experience the stillness and simplicity that inspired the painting. Through this work, I seek to celebrate not only the natural splendor of Skardu but also the intimate moments that reveal the enduring bond between the landscape and the people who call it home.
